A
two-member delegate from Kobe University, Japan visited UTAR Petaling Jaya
Campus on 30 September 2014. They were Kobe University Executive Vice
President Prof Inoue Noriyuki and Professor of International Business Law
Prof Akira Saito. The aim of the visit was to explore areas of collaboration
with UTAR towards enhancing more educational opportunities of mutual
benefit.
On
hand to welcome them was the UTAR team comprising UTAR Vice President (R&D
and Commercialisation) Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, Faculty of Accountancy and
Management (FAM) Deputy Dean Dr Kevin Low Lock Teng, Faculty of Business and
Finance (FBF) Deputy Dean Dr Lee Thean Chye, Centre for Disaster Risk
Reduction Chairperson Prof Dr Yasuo Tanaka, FAM Department of International
Business Head of Programme (PhD & MPhil programmes) Dr Sia Bee Chuan,
Faculty of Engineering and Science (FES) Department of Mechanical and
Material Engineering Dr Wang Chan Chin, Centre for Extension Education
Director Lim Guat Yen, Division of Community and International Networking
Director Dr Tan Sin Leng and Division of Corporate Communication and Public
Relations Director Ong Soo Weon.
Both
Prof Lee and Prof Inoue cordially introduced the staff of the respective
universities, followed by the presentation of UTAR corporate video and
discussion on possible collaboration. The discussion included student
exchange, joint research, study tours, summer programmes, scholarships and
an international conference to be held end of this year.
There
was also a gift exchange between Prof Lee and Prof Inoue at the end of the
meeting.
