Hapkido training trip to Korea

Ralph received certificate from Grand Master Hwang Young Jin

UTAR student from the Taekwondo and Hapkido Club Ralph Hee Zhen Khoon was promoted to 1st Dan black belt during a trip to Korea for Hapkido training from 20 March to 29 March 2015.

The training trip was organized by a local grandmaster Dato Sri Lt Kol Aliff Aiman and the only known certified Grand Master of Hapkido by three leading Hapkido organisations which are: Korea KiDo Hae, Korea HapKiDo Federation and TukKong MooSool. Dato Sri Aliff is also the official Malaysian Representative for the Hapkido organisation and also the founder of Korean Martial Arts South East Asia Pacific (KOMA SEAPAC).

On the first day of the trip there was an opening ceremony for the KOMA SEAPAC training trip at Pohang City. After the performance, it was arranged for the participants to go to Gyeongju University for training sessions. After an upgrading test by Grand Master Hwang Young Jin, Ralph was promptly promoted to 1st Dan black belt.

The next two days involved training courses conducted by well known Grand Master Kim Nam Jae. During this training UTAR instructors took upgrading tests at Jecheon. Following that was a training course with Special Warfare Command Units from the Royal Military Force of the Republic of Korea. On the last day there was a training course conducted by Grand Master Kang Jun, founder of Gongkwon Yusul. Gongkwon Yusul is a modern martial art founded in 1996.
