Delegates of the UNESCO RDTC Regional Seminar 2015
UTAR Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT), a Resource Distribution and Training Centre (RDTC) of UNESCO Bangkok, attended the UNESCO Regional Seminar, themed ‘Teacher Training to Promote Safe, Effective, and Responsible Use of ICT (SERUICT)’ held at Guangzhou, China from 11 to 13 November 2015.
The CLT delegation comprised of CLT Chairperson Winnie Er, Centre for Foundation Studies (Kampar Campus) Department of Science and Engineering Head Lee Chee Heong, Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programme Dr Mahmud Wahab, and FBF lecturer Chong Chee Keong.
CLT presented two research papers titled “Awareness of Safe, Effective, and Responsible Use of ICT” and “Awareness of Open Educational Resources (OER)”. CLT also conducted a poster presentation on its activities as a UNESCO RDTC for the year 2014 to 2015.
Other delegates, include 24 RDTCs from 12 countries in Asia-Pacific, were taken on a study visit to the Shenzhen-Nanshan District School in Shenzhen, China, to see how English lessons were delivered in a Chinese primary school. The delegates also visited the ‘Future Classroom’, a smart classroom project run by the Future Education Group Inc.
At the same time, UNESCO launched two Open Source Resources for Schools, the Directory of Free Educational Resources for Teachers and Science and Classroom Productivity that will be made available in the first quarter of 2016.
