Delegates from China Economic Cooperation Centre (CECC), China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP), Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), and the Institute of Strategic Analysis and Policy Research (INSAP) visited UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 4 December 2015 to explore opportunities for collaborations.

On behalf of CECC were Vice President Liu Jinghua, Director of General Office Wang Guohua, and Division Chief for International Business Zhang Jinzhong. Also present at the courtesy visit were CELAP Deputy Director of Research Development Department Prof Wang Youming, INSAP representative Bi Lin Hiang, and MCA representatives H’ng Gaik Hong and Lee Sau Peng.

On hand to welcome the delegates were UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato' Dr Chuah Hean Teik, UTAR Institute of Management and Leadership Development (IMLD) Director Prof Dr Cheng Ming Yu, Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) Dean Dr Chong Siou Wei, and Division of Community and International Networking (DCInterNet) Director Dr Tan Sin Leng.

The meeting commenced with Prof Chuah’s welcoming address and presentation on UTAR’s history, milestones, and programmes. Citing some of the latest achievements by UTAR students, Prof Chuah emphasised, “UTAR students are well-received by industries at the local and international levels. This is attributed to our students’ prominent adaptability to environments of diverse cultures and languages.”

Impressed by the robust growth of UTAR in mere 13 years, Liu said, “Such networking is an initial stage for future partnerships and collaborations for mutual good, in addition to strengthening ties with multiple parties.” Prof Wang added, “Exchange of resources like establishing platforms for student or staff exchange would create opportunities for diverse learning experiences.”

The UTAR IMLD was established in 2013 in response to the growing and crucial need to nurture quality leaders capable of assuming management and leadership roles in an increasingly complex and globalised environment. The primary goal of UTAR IMLD is to provide professional advancement opportunities to business leaders and government officials through creatively-designed programmes which aim to address various critical management and leadership issues in today's economic environment, particularly in China and ASEAN.
