UTAR Faculty Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) Head of Department of
Chinese Medicine Dr Te Kian Keong and Head of Programme of Clinical TCM
Programme Prof Dr Si Xiaochen visited Yangzhou Hospital of TCM (YZSZYY) for
field trip on 11 July 2015 to explore opportunities for collaborations on
jointly nurturing the international Chinese Medicine students and to pave
the way for a closer working relationship.
On hand to welcome them were President of YZSZYY Shen Chunyu, Vice President
of YZSZYY Ma Yong, Director of Division of Science and Education Lu Jihong,
Deputy Head of the Party and Government Office Gu Mingming, Deputy Dean of
Yangzhou University (YZU) Overseas Education College Zhao Haitao and
supporting staff.
Among the topics discussed were professional requirements on the Chinese
Medicine students under the jointly nurturing project, teacher strength,
study environment and implementation process of the course.
Dr Te and Prof Si had taken a field visits to inspect the campus of YZSZYY
for better specific understanding. Therefore, they also visit to YZU to
inspect on the accommodation for international students.
After the comprehensive assessment, they have agreed that YZSZYY are
qualified for clinical practice and prepare to collaborate with YZSZYY to
train the Chinese Medicine students.
YZSZYY was established in 1978, a modern general hospital provided with the
illustrious traditional Chinese medicine and full-featured western medicine
medical services. YZSZYY is also the affiliated hospital of the Nanjing
University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and teaching hospital of YZU and
Nantong University.
