Visit by renowned authors

Best-selling author-cum-financial expert James Rickards and Harvard-educated economist Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Lin See Yan visited UTAR Kampar Campus in Perak on 26 July 2015.

The visit was led by UTAR Council Chairman Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik accompanied by UTAR Education Foundation Board of Trustees Tan Sri Lee Oi Hean, UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato’ Dr Chuah Hean Teik, UTAR Planning and Development Committee Advisor Tan Sri Hew See Tong and UTAR Council Member Hew Fen Yee.

Also present were Dean of Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Prof Choong Chee Keong, Dean of Faculty of Science Assoc Prof Dr Lim Tuck Meng, FBF Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Dr Mahmud bin Hj Abd Wahab, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Dr Lo Po Kim, FBF Head of Department of Economics Dr Lau Lin Sea, FBF Head of Department of Commerce and Accountancy Ching Suet Ling and FBF Head of Department of Marketing Loo Siat Ching.

A total of 10 books titled, ‘The Global Economy in Turbulent Times’ was also presented by Tan Sri Lin to UTAR Library with the hope that these books will be shared and read by the students and patrons of the university. In the book, Tan Sri Lin offers his timely and incisive views on today’s key economic issues. The discussion covers the world economy, with particular attention to US, EU, Japan and the international monetary systems, as he explains how the economy is broken and offers multiple paths to repair.
