A
colourful ceremony was held on 16 March 2015 at KL campus to mark the
closing of the annual Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC
FES) festival themed UTAR
FEStival 2015 – Land of Memories.
UTAR
Student Representative Council (SRC) and the clubs and societies of KL
Campus, jointly organised this FEStival 2015 which comprised fun filled
activities in culture, music, songs, sports and talks.
Held
from 9 to 16 March 2015 at KL campus, the FEStival 2015 aimed to bring
together staff, lecturers and students from LKC FES to celebrate the
university life, and to appreciate what the University has offered to them.
It was also a platform to showcase the creative side of our engineering,
math and actuarial students’ talents through a poster and photo exhibition,
stage performances of songs, band music and dance, sports competitions and
talk presentations.
“The
FEStival 2015 celebrates our varsity experiences. It is also a fond farewell
to KL campus which holds wonderful memories for all of us. Hence we chose
the ‘Land of Memories’ as our theme for the festival to cherish our times
together at KL campus,” said Daniell Dylan Toidy Daniell, the organising
chairman and a third year mechanical engineering student. He expressed hope
that the FEStival celebration culture would continue at the new Sg Long
campus and enthused that organising the event was an awesome experience for
him, especially in juggling work and studies and managing a ‘crew’ team of
over 25 students.
Present at the closing ceremony were Vice-President (Internationalisation
and Academic Development) Prof Ewe Hong Tat, Vice President (Student
Development & Alumni Relations) Dr Teh Chee Seng, Deputy Dean of LKC FES

Dylan Toidy, Chairperson of Student Representative Council (SRC) KL campus

In his

much more than learning from books. It should include the development of the
mind through experiences in community engagements and event management such
as this UTAR
FEStival 2015 – Land of Memories.
Dr Lai
also congratulated the organising committee for doing a great job and in
extending the traditional one-day festival to a one-week festival for this
year, which made it even more memorable and meaningful to the LKC FES
community.
The
closing ceremony saw the presentation of awards to lecturers and students as
well as the prize presentations to winners of the sports competitions.
Providing the entertainment were K-pop dancers, musical bands and a Chinese
