Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) has relocated its campuses and offices
in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur and Section 13, Petaling Jaya to its own City
Campus in Sungai Long in a move to consolidate and strengthen the
university’s presence and influence in the Klang Valley.
Its campus in Sungai Long will commence full operations effective 1 June
2015 with the following address:
Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)
Jalan Sungai Long,
Bandar Sungai
Long,

With this move, UTAR now has two purpose built university campuses: the
UTAR Perak Campus in Kampar and the UTAR City Campus in Sungai Long. This
move to Sungai Long is one of the most defining moments in UTAR’s history as
the university enters its next decade of excellence in education.
UTAR was set up in 2002 on rented premises in Section 13 with just 411
students and currently, the university has over 24,000 students that will
now be housed in its two campuses. The consolidation of all its Klang Valley
campuses to Sungai Long is a move that will enable UTAR to provide an
improved learning environment to enhance the learning experience of its
students with better library facilities, a more efficient management of
resources in the building and with better security in the one-building
complex. This will also provide more opportunities for the UTAR community of
staff and students to network and participate in the various programmes of
the university which will make the campus a vibrant hub of activities.
The UTAR City Campus in Sungai Long will now house the all the
administrative divisions and the following faculties, centres and
institutes:
Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM)
Faculty of Medicine and
Health Science (FMHS)
Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI)
Lee Kong
Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES)
Institute of Chinese
Studies (ICS)
Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS)
Centre for Extension
Education (CEE)
Institute of Management and Leadership Development
Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research
The UTAR City Campus in Sungai Long will house about 8000 students and about
800 staff.
Some of the main facilities in the new UTAR City Campus building are:
With this move, UTAR now owns and operates both its campuses in Kampar and
Sungai Long. This reflects the foresight of the university as it
consolidates its resources and gathers its strength in anticipation of
greater growth ahead and new plans for strategic development.
