UTAR Kampar Campus Run

The fifth UTAR Kampar Campus Run, flagged off by UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Assoc Prof Dr Teh Chee Seng at the UTAR Sports Complex, Kampar Campus at 7.00am on 2 November 2015, attracted 422 participants.

The run, an annual event since 2011, was organised by the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) in Kampar Campus. The organising chairperson  of the run Theva Das a/l Sankaran from Sports and Recreation Unit of the department said, “The 12km run was organised to encourage a healthy lifestyle among the UTAR students as well as to foster community engagement.”

The run was open to staff and students in the UTAR Men’s and UTAR Women’s categories and to the members of the public in Men’s Open and Women’s Open categories. As early as 5.30am, the Sports Complex became a hive of activity due to the commencement of registration and the arrival of students by bus from Sungai Long Campus.

Also present at the event were DSA (Kampar Campus) Head Chiang Jeng Fong, sponsors, organising committee members, staff, and students.

In the UTAR Men’s category, Banking and Finance student Goh Chun Seng, Food Science student Collymore Tang Yong Fung, and English Education student Joshua Peter were the champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up respectively. Civil Engineering student Heah Wan Qing, Actuarial Science student Lim Chew Ying, and Finance student Wong Kah Wei were champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up respectively in the UTAR Women’s category.

Mohammad Izul Amirul, Chris Chan Wai Yee, and Yee Boon Kit, were the champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up respectively in the Men’s Open category. Meanwhile, Teong Lee Sing, Catherine Chong Len Far, and Pillai Abirasshiny, were the champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up respectively in the Women’s Open category.

The top three winners from each category took home RM200, RM150, and RM50 respectively. Each of these winners also received a trophy, medal, and certificate of participation.
