Kickstart.my Co-founder Maverick Foo Chia Yong and Selangor Information Technology and E Commerce Council (SITEC) Project Coordinator Goh Boon Peng discussed several issues on startups at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 28 October 2015.

The latest installment in the Entrepreneurial Talk Series, this talk served as an enriching platform for inspiring young entrepreneurs by focusing on leadership and business issues pertinent to the global landscape today.

“The foundation of a successful business starts with an idea, not the number of connections, or the sum of capital you possess,” said Foo.

Foo also advised the students to leave their comfort zone, be proactive, bursh up on their communication skills, develop their ideas, and never be shy to interact with people to understand the needs in the current market.

“Never stop acquiring new knowledge, keep arming yourself with new knowledge, as it not only adds value to youself as an entreprenuer, but it also shows that you’re adaptable and open to new ideas,” he added.

On the other hand, Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (SITEC) Project Coordinator Goh Boon Peng emphasised the importance of information technology in commerce.

“Businesses today are increasingly driven by digital information and communication technologies, which results in an information explosion and are profoundly changing all aspects of today’s economy,” said Goh.

Inspired by growing startups and graduates’ interest in entrepreneurial careers, SITEC aims to increase Malaysia’s competitiveness in the e-commerce industry through its programmes.

“SITEC is a platform created to guide students in developing their ideas and materialise them through various startup gatherings, e-commerce courses, coding classes, forums, seminars, and many more at our Selangor Digital Creative Centre (SDCC) in Shah Alam,” he continued.
