Industrial talk on Sustainability, Innovation and Leadership was held at
UTAR Sungai Long campus on 30 November 2015. This talk aims to share how
cleantech, renewable energy, product system design and supply chain
strategies able meet our economic development aspirations while addressing
our social and ecological challenges.
SKF Malaysia Managing Director, Dr Dario Cardone said the industrial
revolution marked an era of tremendous growth, innovation, and prosperity in
many parts of the world, but those achievements also have had unintended
consequences that are increasingly obvious.
“Our approach to sustaining growth while meeting environmental and social
challenges is SKF Care. SKF Care incorporates four fundamental principles –
business, the environment, employees and the community”, he continued.
SKF’s successful business is contributed by aligning their operations and
strategies with not only their values and principles, as well as the
environmental obligations.
Dr Dario said SKF has continuously taken steps to address environmental
impacts at different stages of their products’ lifecycle, and value chain.
The measures that have taken and planned to take and informed by solid
knowledge in environmental lifecycle, he said.
“Our Employee Care programme is built upon values of, empowerment, ethics,
openness, and teamwork. Our programme also focuses on developing schemes to
realize employees’ full potential, and create a motivating and safe work
environment for them”, he added.
SKF also believes the community they operate in, presents the company’s
future market, workforce, and talent. Our presence (sales offices,
factories, warehouses), contributes to local society by creating
opportunities and development for people.
“Everything we do has an impact on our environment, from raw materials to
the disposal of products at the end of its life cycle. Every stages in the
supply chain presents the possibility to reduce environmental impact”, he
advised.
