Student Representative Council (SRC) met with Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Willey Anak Richard and his fellow officers during their visit to Sungai Long Campus on 22 October 2015.

“This visit is a great way for my officers to introduce themselves to the students and increase cooperation with them, because we want to make sure they enjoy their stay here in Kajang,” said OCPD Willey.

Some of the issues discussed were pickpocketing, snatch theft, assault, break-ins, narcotics, and noise.

OCPD Willey speaking about the importance of public cooperation with authorities

“Kajang district is big, there are many developing housing and commercial areas, resulting in opportunistic criminals on the prowl,” he said.

“Crime cannot completely be eradicated, however opportunistic crimes such as snatch thefts can be reduced if the public are more observant and aware of their surroundings,” he continued.

OCPD Willey said despite the shortage in manpower, he and his fellow officers will do their best in serving the needs of the community.

“Fighting crime is a joint responsibility in order to create a safe and pleasant environment. The public are our eyes and ears on the ground,” he added.

Also present were Sungai Long OCS Sjn Amir Aris, UTAR Registrar Dr Tan Kee Kong, and Department of Student Affairs Head Loh Nyuk Leung.
