UTAR Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) and the Centre for Extension Education (CEE) organised a training course on GST and accounting from 12 to 16 October 2015 at Kampar Campus.

The training workshop was attended by Estream MSC Sdn Bhd Managing Director Desmond Law Hoe Yen, their Chief Executive Officer Bryan Cheong Chee San, FICT Dean Assoc Prof Dr Liew Soung Yue, FICT Deputy Dean Dr Choo Peng Yin, and sixty three participants from FICT and Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF).

The workshop jointly titled “GST and Business Concept” and “Hands on with SQL on GST Programme” was delivered by Cheong. The workshop focused mainly on how to simplify GST from theory to practice. Cheong introduced the SQL Financial Accounting Software which was designed for a network environment with business-critical functionality. This software has advances in report writing, filtering and sorting facilities, and is capable of generating unlimited user-defined reports.

Law added, “The accounting staff can learn more about GST reporting and understand it much more easily using this software. This training served to educate on the correct theoretical and practical use of GST to streamline work in the future.”

This technical workshop also provided the opportunity for marketing staff to explore new GST reporting in basic currency, advance currency, sales tax, credit controls, and many more using the SQL software. Furthermore, the 100 First GST Accounting Software tutorial guidebooks in Malaysia were given to the participants for free.

The training session ended with Dr Liew presenting certificates of appreciation to both trainers.
