Espriex Business Model Competition

A team of five UTAR students named DYNAMICA managed to place in the top 18 among the 30 finalist teams in the Espriex Business Model Competition ASEAN 2016 held at the Faculty of Administration Science of University of Brawijaya, Malang in Indonesia from 21 to 23 February 2016.

The team comprised Financial Economics students, Yeoh Wei Juin and Yew Yao Xi; Entrepreneurship student June Lew Wan Ling; Biotechnology student Mark Kin Kit; and Architecture student Chin Hongrui. They were mentored by UTAR lecturers Lee Jing Wen from the Faculty of Business and Finance and Ar Loo Kok Hoo from the Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science.

DYNAMICA pitched their business proposal for a chemical product that can fully improve the performance of batteries, by increasing capacity, starting power, and life span, while saving fuel consumption and maintaining lower battery temperature more effectively.

“It was exciting to be able to apply certain concepts and theories learned in the course to an actual business model assignment during the competition. The amount of experience I gained in the competition was invaluable. The competition was a great opportunity for all of us to improve our knowledge and develop our ideas,” enthused Lew.  

Espriex Business Model Competition ASEAN 2016 is a prestigious annual international event which is one of the largest business model competitions in ASEAN. The participants compete with delegates from ASEAN universities and the winner becomes the representative of ASEAN for the International Business Model Competition at Harvard University.
