A noble cause at MFF

With the ambition to help the underprivileged children of Malaysia, a charitable event known as the Moneypollie Fun Fair (MFF) was organised by the Board Games Club at UTAR Kampar Campus from 2 April to 3 April 2016.

Held at the UTAR Sports Complex over the course of two days, the event welcomed the public and students to discover the fun of various board games and card games. Besides providing a platform for students to interact, other highlights from the event were performances by both international and local stars. The crowd-pullers included Thai internet sensation Happy Polla, and local celebrities, such as UTAR Alumna Yise Lo 罗亿诗, Amy 文小菲, and Uriah .

Invited to grace the closing ceremony was UTAR Vice-President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Assoc Prof Dr Teh Chee Seng. Also present were Chairperson of Board Games Club Low Kelvin, Advisor of Board Games Club Kuar Lok Sin, and Chairperson of Student Representative Council Chong En Di.

The collaborative effort between the organisers and the vendors targeted a 70 percent donation to World Vision Malaysia from the total profits earned. With the donation, poverty-stricken children in Malaysia will be provided with education, nutrition, healthcare, and safeguards to their rights to survival, development, protection, and participation.

Complimenting the committee’s effort to raise funds for a noble cause, Dr Teh also delivered his thanks to the sponsors and crowd for their support in making the event successful. “This event helps to create an awareness of the noble works piloted by World Vision Malaysia. I do hope everyone will continue to support coming events at UTAR,” encouraged Dr Teh.

“The initial objective of MFF was to introduce Board Games Club to UTAR students, but with the overwhelming support from the committee members, we were able to organise a larger-scale event,” said MFF Organizing Chairperson Alexis Ting.

Sponsored by Digi, the success of MFF served as a platform to inspire UTARians and visitors to contribute to society and help the underprivileged.
