Council member launches books

The Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) hosted UTAR Council Member YB Senator Dato’ Hou Kok Chung’s book launch at Sungai Long Campus on 28 July 2016.

Present at the book launch was the Minister of Transport YB Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai accompanied by UTAR Vice-President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Prof Ir Dr Ewe Hong Tat and New Era College Principal Prof Mok Soon Chong. Also present were Dato’ Hou’s guests, friends, students, and colleagues. The occasion also saw the presence of staff and students from UTAR and schools, as well as members of the media.

The two books launched were 《珍惜》(Appreciate) and 《本心》(Conscience), both authored by Dato’ Hou. Appreciate is Dato’ Hou’s first book with a combination of calligraphy and typed text which consists of 70 essays, each complementing a calligraphic artwork. The second book Conscience also reflects Dato’ Hou’s passion for both calligraphy and writing, with much emphasis on life stories through 52 essays and Chinese calligraphy.

The book launch commenced with a book review by Prof Mok, followed by the launching ceremony. Dato’ Sri Liow launched the two books together with Dato’ Hou, Prof Ewe, and Prof Mok.
