Robotics competition

The Inter-campus Robotics Competition (IRC) 2016 was held at Sungai Long Campus on 23 July 2016. It acted as a platform for undergraduate students to showcase their talents using art and technology to build robots.

Chuah Chun Wei, chairperson of the organising committee said that this competition was also a platform for students and robotics enthusiasts from different learning institutions to exchange knowledge and information on the latest technology.

Team Petronas Primax from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) was crowned champion with a cash prize worth RM2000 and won the “Best Design and Innovation” for their robot, while team NH4U from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC) took home second place with a cash prize of RM1000.

“It was certainly worth the amount of time we put in and is a great motivation for us to continue to create more robots in the future,” said Petronas Primax team representative Victor Koo Zhao En.

Judging the competition were lecturers Dr Lee Yoon Ket from TARUC, Hoo Choon Lih from Taylor's University, Dr Muhammad Herman Bin Jamaluddin from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM); and Kang Faydi, an R&D engineer from ViTrox Corporation Berhad.

The competition also saw participants from Taylor’s University, Universiti Tenaga National (UNITEN), University of Southampton (Malaysia Campus), and University Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM).
