Year One and Two students
from the Art, Craft and Drama for Early Childhood unit visited Bukit Nanas
Forest Reserve, Central Market and the National Textile Museum on 26 July
2016. The trip aimed to provide inspiration for students in their projects.
The students walked a 2km
canopy trail, starting from the Bukit Nanas entrance to Menara KL to learn
and better appreciate nature. They also had a chance to create art tools
such as brushes for painting using biodegradable materials such as twigs and
dry leaves.

They also visited Central
Market, to experience Malaysia’s diverse arts, handicrafts and culture.
Their next stop took them to the National Textile Museum for a tour and to
gain hands-on experience with weaving and painting batik.
“It is important to let
our future pre-service educators have these experiences to understand how
and what children can learn from such experiences,”said Department of Early
Childhood Studies Head Jamela Begam Binti Oli Muhamad.
This trip was organised by
the Department of Early Childhood Studies, Faculty of Creative Industries
(FCI).
