Visit by Shandong Yingcai University

Delegates from Shandong Yingcai University visited Sungai Long Campus on 25 November 2016. The purpose of the visit was to expand international collaborations, explore collaborative opportunities and promote mutual understanding between both institutions.

Attending on behalf of Shandong Yingcai University were President Prof Xia Jiting, Vice President Prof Zhang Xinghu, School of Mechanical Manufacture and Automation Dean Assoc Prof Dr Liu Yanli, School of Business Dean Assoc Prof Dr Honghua, and International Office representative Vivian Xiao Qian.

The delegates were welcomed by UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, Division of Community and International Networking Director Prof Dr Cheng Ming Yu, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science(LKC FES) Dean Prof Ir Dr Goi Bok Min, LKC FES Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Institute of Chinese Studies Dean Assoc Prof Dr Chong Siou Wei, Faculty of Accountancy and Management Lecturer Dr Cham Tat Huei, Centre for Extension Education (CEE), Business Development and Administration & Operation Unit Head Joleena Chong Binti Mohamad Chong, and CEE Senior Assistant Manager Ng Ik Ching.

During his welcoming address, Prof Lee said, “UTAR is now a reputable leading university with more than 45,000 alumni, about 26,000 students andnear to 2,000 staff in both campuses. It is worth mentioning that the relations between Malaysia and China have become closer under the One Belt, One Road initiative. I believe it will be a great achievement if we are able to unite UTAR and Shandong Yingcai University for future collaborative opportunities. I am especially looking forward to possible future collaborations in regards to student and staff exchanges.”

Prof Xia expressed his support for Shandong Yingcai University welcoming UTAR students and staff for exchanges as well as university visits for future research partnerships. “Shandong Yingcai University and UTAR are both young universities. Our students are also well-accepted by industries and companies. We believe that younger generations have to expand their networking globally in order to be more outstanding in this competitive world. So, we hope that our students are able to take part in the short courses in UTAR to learn about different cultures in Malaysia. The world is developing very fast and we hope to improve the university’s competitiveness by seeking out special and unprecedented collaborative relationships.”
