UTAR and NKNU sign MoU

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between UTAR and National Kaohsiung Normal University (NKNU) at the UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 19 February 2016.

Delegates from NKNU present at the ceremony were Vice-President Prof Wang Hui-liang, his wife, Chen Hsiu-lien, Office of Academic Affairs Dean Prof Liau Pen-hwang, College of Continuing and Extension Education Dean Prof Tarn Da-chun, Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language Director Prof Chun Chen-cheng, and Graduate Institute of Hakka Studies Director Prof Lee Leong-sze.

UTAR delegates who welcomed the Taiwanese guests were Vice-President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, Division of Community and International Networking Director Dr Tan Sin Leng, Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) Dean Dr Chong Siou Wei, ICS Department of Chinese Studies (Sungai Long Campus) and Contemporary China Studies Unit Head Dr Chin Chong Foh, and ICS lecturers Dr Pua Shiau Chen and Dr Cui Yan.

In his welcoming speech, Prof Lee expressed his warmest welcome to all delegates from NKNU, saying that with this MoU forming a milestone in the blossoming relationship between our two universities, he very much looked forward to more mutually beneficial cooperation and collaboration with NKNU in the future.

Prof Wang, too conveyed his heartfelt gratitude and honour to be able to visit UTAR, stating that he was impressed by the transformation that UTAR has achieved since its not too distant establishment. With the MoU marking the beginning of much future collaboration, Prof Wang welcomed every opportunity to cooperate with UTAR.
