Campus tour by Aw and Norlaila from the Division of Programme Promotion
Sixty students and two teachers from SMK Convent Kajang visited UTAR Sungai
Long Campus on 19 February 2016. The visit was one of the field trips for
peer guidance counsellors (Pembimbing Rakan Sebaya)
to gain more exposure of tertiary studies courses.
The
students were welcomed by Aw Chan Yann and Norlaila Binti Ismail, staff from
the Division of Programme Promotion (DPP), into the Multi-purpose
Hall.Students were shown the UTAR corporate video to introduce them to the
university’s history, before listening to a talk on Communication. After the
talk, students were led by Navamani a/p Nagapponfromthe Department of
Students Affairs for a teambuilding activity known as “Kemahiran
Membantu” where
they learnt about strengthening peer relationships. Apart from that,
students were also taught how to deal with current issues afflicting
teenagers, which was followed by a teambuilding game.

“I
love the environment and the building layout, as well as the facilities in
UTAR that support the students’ needs. If given a chance, I will pursue my
tertiary studies in UTAR,” remarked Fung Yi Wen.
The
visitors were also taken on a guided tour around campus by the DPP staff
where they were given a glimpse of the learning facilities and the way
classes are conducted.The visit ended with a souvenir exchange between
Norlaila and the teachers, representing UTAR and SMK Convent Kajang
respectively.
