Vice-Dean for Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU) International School of Chinese Studies (ISCS) Dr Lin Kun visited UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 3 March 2016. The visit was held to explore prospective opportunities such as student and staff exchanges, joint research, and dual degree programmes to boost international academic collaborations between UTAR and SNNU.
SNNU’s Dr Lin was warmly received by UTAR Division of Community and International Networking Director Dr Tan Sin Leng, Division of Programme Promotion (DPP) Director Lee Choy Fong, DPP Student Recruitment and Operations (Sungai Long Campus) Head Hoh Swee Hai, Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) Deputy Dean Dr Tee Boon Chuan, and ICS Department of Chinese Studies (Sungai Long Campus) Head Dr Chin Chong Foh.
In view of expanding the international connections, Dr Tan suggested collaborations on student exchange as UTAR aims to mobilise one thousand students inbound and outbound this year. “We welcome students from SNNU and the ISCS for educational tours, New Village Community Projects, or any other form of programmes so that the students could learn from international peers and broaden their global perspectives.”
“I am very glad that UTAR’s ICS and SNNU’s ISCS share common interests in some research areas, such as Chinese arts and culture. I look forward to when both parties can come together as official collaborative partners on common ground to further expand academic interactions, as well as provide the students greater learning opportunities,” said Dr Lin.
