UTAR Career Day 2016, organised by the Department
of Alumni Relations and Placement specially for graduating students and
alumni, was held at the Multi-purpose Hall in Sungai Long Campus on 9 March
2016.
A talk by Leong Chun Wah from AmMetLife was held
that day where he spoke on how to build a franchise business in the
financial planning industry. The speaker drew on his deep well of experience
in the engaging talk, which was supplemented with a wide variety of
interactive discussions.
The main purpose of this event was to provide an
opportunity for students to explore possible career paths and gather insight
into the specific requirements, daily responsibilities, and extraordinary
experiences associated with each career.
There were a total of 78 companies which
participated in this career day event, among them renowned companies such as
KPMG, Public Bank, Jobstreet, and Top Glove.
Quantity Surveying student Wong Seow Ching said,
“The companies they have here is relevant to my course of study. I am hoping
to secure a future career through this event.”
Marketing student Ng Swee Wey said, “I am
surprised that there are some of the companies that I have not seen on
Jobstreet. I am looking for internship opportunities in marketing-related
fields.”
