Committee members trying out the bumper balls
The Bump for Fun pre-event publicity activity was
held at the entrance of UTAR Sungai Long Campus’ KB Block on 30 March 2016.
It was organised by UTAR Sports Club of Sungai Long Campus. The actual event
will be held at the Multi-purpose Hall, Sungai Long Campus on 19 June 2016.
The organising committee sought to introduce the
sport of bumper ball to UTAR students. They achieved this by demonstrating to
the students on the safety precautions to be taken during the game, while at
the same time encouraging students to register themselves for the upcoming
event.
Noticing the lack of sufficient opportunities for
youth to participate in organised sports, Bump for Fun’s organisers
conceived of this event as a means to engage more students in sports and
physical activities and to promote unity among students.
Physical activity plays a significant role in
promoting health and wellness and deprivation of activity robs youth of the
lifelong benefits of improved physical and mental health.
Organising Chairperson Chu Jian Zong said,“ I
hope students will take more initiative to participate in sports activities
to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We are looking forward to the actual event
day and we hope that in future, it will become an annual event in UTAR.”
“The main objective for this particular event is
to promote teamwork and cooperation among UTARstudents. We hope from this
event we can learn about how unity strengthens relationships to ensure
seamless and effective collaboration,” said Bump for Fun Head of Programme
Siew Jun Yaw.
