Anhui Normal University visits

UTAR cordially welcomed delegates from Anhui Normal University to UTAR at the Sungai Long Campus on 22 November 2016. The purpose of the visit was to explore collaborative opportunities and promote mutual understanding between both institutions.

The delegates from Anhui Normal University were Anhui Normal University Party Secretary GuJia Shan, Director Zeng Li Ming, Foreign Affairs Office Director Huang Sheng Jiong, Director Assistant Zheng Wan Nian, Secretary Wang Zhao Jing and Elecut Holdings Sdn Bhd Marketing Manager Mag Zhang.

Welcoming them were UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) Dean Assoc Prof Dr Chong Siou Wei, ICS Deputy Dean Assoc Prof Dr Tee Boon Chuan, Faculty of Accountancy and Management Deputy Dean Dr Chong Shyue Chuan, Division of Community and International Networking Director Prof Dr Cheng Ming Yu, Division of Programme Promotion Director Lee Choy Fong, and Department of Soft Skills Competency Head Fook Oi Yee.

The meeting commenced with a presentation of the UTAR corporate video and Prof Lee’s welcoming address. Prof Lee expressed his warmest welcome and gratitude to the visitors and looked forward to UTAR collaborating with Anhui Normal University in future. He said, “UTAR is a comprehensive university offering programmes ranging from foundation and honours bachelor’s degrees to master’s and PhD levels in nine faculties, three institutes and three centres. I believe our Student Exchange Programme should be an ideal beginning for our international collaboration.”

Gu remarked, “We have travelled from China to Thailand, and from Thailand to Malaysia. Our main purpose is to develop our university’s network globally. We hope to promote the recognition of dual-degree programmes and joint degree programmes under the One Belt, One Road initiative. I believe that we should develop our collaboration step by step, which could start from the understanding of universities’ administration affairs, short term overseas training programmes and student exchange programmes.I hope that future collaborations with UTAR will achieve a win-win situation and bring many benefits to the students.”
