UTAR Postgraduate Students Receive Financial Aid

Sixty postgraduate students of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) have been awarded the Postgraduate Study Financial Aid under the Second Economic Stimulus Package by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE). In relation to that, a presentation ceremony was held on 5 October 2009 at UTAR Petaling Jaya Campus and present to grace the event was the Deputy Higher Education Minister Dr. Hou Kok Chung.

On the financial aid, UTAR President Ir. Professor Dato' Dr. Chuah Hean Teik said, "We are indeed thankful to the Government of Malaysia for extending the financial aid for postgraduate students to all the private institutions of higher learning. Ever since the MoHE scholarship scheme opened to more IPTS including UTAR, the number of applicants and successful candidates from UTAR has increased significantly."

He added, "As always, UTAR is mindful that students with potential should not be denied a chance to further their studies because of financial constraints."

In his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Hou said, "The financial aid not only promotes lifelong learning, but also optimises the invaluable human capital in the country so that they are gainfully engaged even when the economic situation is down."

The 60 recipients of the financial aid will each receive up to RM 10,000 to help them finance the tuition fees of their postgraduate studies in UTAR. The postgraduate degree programmes they will be pursuing at UTAR include Master of Arts (Chinese Studies) , Master of Communication , Master of Science , Master of Mathematical Science , Master of Computer Science , Master of Business Administration , Master of Business Administration (Corporate Governance) and Master of Engineering Science.
