Visitors from Chinese High School impressed with Perak Campus

It was a fruitful experience for a group of 28 visitors from Chong Hwa Independent High School, Kuala Lumpur who were on a study trip to Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Perak Campus on 17 October 2009. The group was lead by the school's Vice Principal Cheong Moey Lian.

The visitors were greeted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Tuck Meng, Dean of Faculty of Science; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Liew Soung Yue, Dean of Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (Perak Campus); and Assoc. Prof. Dr Ooi Keng Boon, Dean of Faculty of Business and Finance and other University's officials. They were shown a brief multimedia presentation on the establishment of the University as well as its achievements over the past seven years.

The visitors were given a campus tour in which they were introduced to the teaching and learning facilities including computer practical laboratories, science laboratories, engineering workshops, lecture theatres and tutorial rooms. They also had the opportunity to see the newly built five-storey library and other infrastructures of the phase 1B.

"This is our first time visiting UTAR Perak Campus and we are delighted to be greeted so warmly by the officials of the University," commented Cheong. "For only two years, the Perak Campus is well-equipped with state-of-arts teaching and learning facilities. This is very impressive. It is indeed a conducive learning environment," she added.

The school's counsellor Khor Guat Hong agreed with Cheong's statement. "UTAR offers a wide area of study, ranging from arts to engineering and from business to IT. Hence, students have more options when choosing their degree. I will share the first-hand information on UTAR's latest programmes and achievements with my students, especially those who wish to pursue their tertiary education locally."
