RICS-RISM International Surveying Conference

The participants of 9th RICS-RISM International Surveying Conference for Undergraduate 2017

Final year Quantity Surveying student Yeo Qi Ping received “Award for the Special-Mentioned Paper” for his conceptual paper which was based on his Final Year Project titled “Profiling Risk Attitudes of Residential Property Purchasers in Klang Valley” in the 9^th RICS-RISM International Surveying Conference for Undergraduate 2017 held at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) from 7 and 8 May 2017. Yeo was under the supervision of Dr Chia Fah Choy. 

The RICS-RISM International Surveying Conference for Undergraduate is an annual conference organised jointly by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) along with participating universities who took turns to host the event. 

The conference acts as a platform for undergraduate students pursuing quantity surveying in universities across Asia-Pacific to learn, exchange, and share their undergraduate research papers. 

Besides UTAR, there were 14 other participation from local universities; Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara, International Islamic University Malaysia, Taylor’s University, INTI International University, University of Reading Malaysia, Herriot-Watt University, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia and foreign universities such as Assumption University of Thailand, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Chongqing University, China.

In addition, UTAR also won the Best Dinner Performance for a comedian commercial acting aimed to promote safety helmet and safety boot during the dinner held at Orchard Villa Gombak on the evening of 7^th April 2017. The participants who took part in the performance were Ooi Rou en, Ooi Wei Zhi, Ooi Sue Cheng, Liew Kai Lee, Liew Sok Koon, Lim Yi Jiun, Michaelle Lee Shu Lyn, Tan Shu Ying and Tan Wan Xin and they were competing against 7 other institutions.
