Malaysia Day essay competition

In conjunction with Malaysia Day, the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) Kampar organised an essay writing competition, which also saw first-time participation from international students, from 17 July to 18 August 2017 at the Kampar Campus.

Aimed to instil patriotism among participants, the competition also offered a sense of belonging to the participants as well as to remind them the significance of their achievements to the university’s developments. CFS (Kampar Campus) Director Tan Lee Siew, in her speech, also expressed her hope for the participants to be able to explore the beauty of Malaysia through their essays.

With the title “The Beauty of Malaysia: From My Perspective”, the participants showcased their talent in writing and expressed their creativity through various story-lines, which gave judges a difficult time deciding on the winners. After a thorough discussion, the winners were selected and were judged based on their style, content and language.

A prize-giving ceremony was later held on 28 August 2017, which saw the presence of Faculty of Arts and Social Science lecturer Dr M Sultana Alam, Tan, CFS Deputy Director for Student Affairs and Development (Kampar Campus) Lim Khiew Loon, Department of Arts and Social Science (Kampar Campus) Head Pakialetchumy Antoni, Department of Management and Accountancy (Kampar Campus) Head Zurina binti Abdullah and Department of Science & Engineering (Kampar Campus) Head Chan Jer Jing.
