Dream of the Red Chamber

Crystal Digital Technology Co Ltd showcased a 3D animation titled “Dream of the Red Chamber” to Star Media Group Bhd on 4 December 2017 at Menara Star, Petaling Jaya. Present at the visit were Star Media Group Chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, Star Media Group Bhd Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato’ Dr Chuah Hean Teik, UTAR Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) Dean Assoc Prof Dr Chong Siou Wei, University of Malaya (UM) Department of Chinese Studies Head Assoc Prof Dr Fan Pik Wah, Crystal Digital Group Deputy President and General Manager of Shanghai Ding Ying, Crystal Digital Technology Vice General Manager Lin Jingtong, Deputy General Manager Cheng Weiming and Project Advisor Yang Fengguang.

Prof Chuah said, “The ancients donated the collection of paintings or calligraphy to friends as a token of friendship. Digital works will be more advantageous to spread the heritage of the classics in comparison to the past cultural relics. I look forward to the future with the opportunity to communicate and collaborate with Crystal Digital Group, the world's leading digital visual technology and services company.”

The aim of the showcase was to demonstrate how new technology and traditional art can be combined together to give audiences a different presentation format. As a way to encourage more engagement in 3D animation, Crystal Digital has donated the 3D animation to UTAR and UM for both academic and research purposes.
