International and local students and staff gathering at the
International Student Interaction Day 2017
Department of International Student Services (DISS) organised the
International Student Interaction Day 2017 on 28 October 2017 at Sungai
Long Campus.
Present at the event were DISS (Sungai Long) Head Rospiah binti Masilin,
representatives from various faculties and administrative departments,
international and local students from the UTAR Kampar and Sungai Long
Campus as well as some exchange students.
Welcoming the guests at the event, Rospiah said, “The International
Student Interaction Day gathers our international students, staff and
academic members from both Kampar and Sungai Long Campus to establish
stronger bonding and interaction. It is a great pleasure for us to
provide a platform like this to better improve the connections among our
international students as well as with the local staff and students.”
Mark David Paul from Pakistan, who is also an Actuarial Science student
said, “I have been actively involved in the international student events
as they are precious opportunities for me to gather with other
international students whom I can barely meet during usual days inside
and outside the campus. These events are very important as they enable
the international students to not only form closer ties, but also to
share our problems and help one another.”
An exchange student, Wei Li-An from Tunghai University said, “This is an
eye-opener for me to be able to meet peers from different backgrounds. I
truly appreciate this kind of platform that allows us to learn more
about one another and form closer friendships with international and
local students from both the campuses.”
International Student Interaction Day 2017 encompassed a wide range of
activities including ice-breaking, cake-cutting ceremony, video
presentation, singing performances, lucky draw and games such as
charades and bingo.
