Speaking at the launching ceremony of the exhibition, Head of Multimedia
Design and Animation Department Yuen May Chan said, “The students have
been spending sleepless nights working on their projects and today is
the culmination of their long hours of work. I am proud that this
exhibition demonstrates the breadth and depth of their imagination and a
wide range of creative ideas which include branding, advertising,
website design, animation to book publishing.”

The exhibition’s Project Leader Chan Wei Chian said, “We called our
exhibition ‘The Art of Nocturne’ because it’s our tongue-in-cheek way of
saying we’re nocturnal creatures. In fact, we’re busiest when the night
comes, designing and producing all sorts of creative materials. For this
exhibition, we literally worked from dusk to dawn.”

The students and academic staff teaching the Graphic Design and
Multimedia programme also expressed their appreciation to UTAR President
Ir Prof Academician Dato’ Dr Chuah Hean Teik for launching the
exhibition. “It means so much to me and my course mates to see the
President take time off from his hectic schedule to come down and view
our projects,” commented Chan.
Exhibitions of creative work done by final year students pursuing the
Bachelor of Graphic Design and Multimedia programme are carried out
twice a year to enable students and staff, especially those from other
programmes to have an awareness of what Graphic Design and Multimedia
students do.
