UTAR warmly welcomed the visitors from Chung Yuan Christian University
(CYCU) at Sungai Long Campus on 13 December 2017.
Visiting on behalf of CYCU were Executive Operation Office for
Industry-Academia Cooperation Dean Prof Dr Bill Chung, Chung Yuan
Innovation and Incubation Center Manager Brian Kao, Assistant Manager
Linda Chang, and Malaysia Taiwan Industry Academia Research and
Entrepreneurship Center Chief Executive Officer Kevin Peng.
Welcoming them on behalf of UTAR were Institute of Management and
Leadership Development Director-cum-Division of Community and
International Networking Director Prof Dr Cheng Ming Yu, Lee Kong Chian
Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Deputy Dean for Student
Development and Industrial Training Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Faculty
of Accountancy and Management (FAM) Deputy Dean for Student Development
and Industrial Training Dr Chong Shyue Chuan, Department of Mass
Communication Head Dr Lim Chai Lee, Department of Economics Head Sia Bik
Kai, and Department of Consultancy and Commercialisation Head Ching Yen
Choon.
The purpose of the visit was to foster mutual understanding through
discussions and to explore the potential for a broadening and deepening
of education collaboration in preferred areas of cooperation that will
be beneficial to both parties. Various topics, including student and
staff exchange, summer programme, entrepreneurship programme, and any
other activities viewed to be potentially beneficial, were discussed in
order to enable professionals and students from both sides to share
their knowledge and ideas as well as to gain valuable insight of leading
practices and knowledge.
Established in 1955, CYCU is a comprehensive private university, located
in the urban setting of the small city of Taoyuan, Taiwan. With its aim
of nurturing professional talents and becoming a leading university
internationally to enhance human welfares, the University focused on
students and endeavoured in research, teaching and services. It is a
large coeducational higher education institution formally affiliated
with the Christian-Nondenominational religion.
