ArchiNight

The organising committees

The ArchiNight, organised by the Architecture Society, was held at Sungai Long Campus on 5 July 2017. Held annually, the theme for this year was NOCTURNE—a masquerade party where the participants were all dressed in tuxedos and dinner gowns along with their creative mask on.

The grand event served as a platform for the architecture students to release their stress by having fun and celebrate all the good things that have taken place during the course of their study years. The organising committee hoped to establish a better relationship between architecture students and the University through this event. Furthermore, the event did not only gather all the creative individuals under one roof but it also helped to enhance the architecture students’ social interaction skills and build up a better self-esteem that would help them in their future career path.

The nearly five-hour dinner party, with over 200 participants, including the architecture students from other universities such as University College Sedaya International (UCSI) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) turned up in their finest outfits. The night kicked-started with an inspiring speech from the event Chairperson Looi Chia Wei, followed by a slap-up dinner. The participants were greeted with a dinner buffet of western cuisine and delicacies and later proceeded on to the performances.

“This night is dedicated to all the lecturers and students, and I extend my special appreciation to our honourable guest. I would also like to thank all the committee members for putting so much effort in making this event a success. This is the night that we enjoy and let us take a break. I hope that you all will enjoy the night,” said Looi in her welcome speech.

On behalf of LKC FES, I would like to express my gratitude to all the organising committee. I am certain that the team behind this event has put in a lot of effort to make sure this event is well-designed and successful.”

During the night, the participants were entertained with various delightful performances ranging from Chinese Orchestra performance, band performance, catwalk show, musical drama, singing, dancing, senior session, beat boxing to acting. Unreservedly, the performers showcased their creative and artistic talents with spectacular performances. The night was also lit up with a drone presentation which was handmade by the UTAR Makers Club. Two rounds of lucky draw sessions were also held, which included prizes such as bag, Starbucks tumbler, power bank, travelling bag, and Panasonic hairdryer.

In addition to a great variety of performances that the event offered, the night also featured a pageant for Masquerade King and Queen. The Masquerade King and Queen candidates were nominated earlier, and the audience voted for their favourite candidates via social media. The student from studio two Law Jan Shen and studio five Chew Siao Pei were crowned Masquerade King and Queen respectively. As for the Sleeping Beauty, the male winner was Jeremiah Kon Jia Wei from studio three while the female winner was Kah Xiao Tong from studio five.

The event also featured a drama named “NOCTURNE”, and it was without a doubt one of the main highlights of the night. It brought a message to the audience that despite having a dark side to oneself, they should be able to cope with it as long the load is shared with others. The night then ended with the participants taking photos to be kept as part of their memory that would last a lifetime.

The event was sponsored by Appeton, Sozo Hair Weave, and J&H Concept.
