After successfully distributing a total of 98 free spectacles early this year to students from SJK(C) Thung Hon, Chenderong and SJK (C) Bemban, Batu Gajah, UTAR and the Malaysian Association of Practising Opticians (MAPO) once again delivered free spectacles to a total of 78 school students from SJK (C) Kampung Timah, Tanjung Tualang and SJK (C) Jeram in a simple yet meaningful ceremony held on 2 March 2017.
This ceremony marked the completion of phase one of the Gift of Eyesight project mooted by UTAR Chancellor Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik last year to help young students, especially the poor and in need, to get free spectacles.
MAPO President Tai Lee Pin shared knowledge of eye care with the villagers during the closing ceremony.
The villagers expressed their deepest appreciation to all the volunteers, especially the MAPO members as they had come all the way from other states, putting aside their everyday concerns to conduct the project. The recipients were delighted to receive the free spectacles.
