UTAR and Huizhou University (HZU) officially inked a memorandum of
understanding (MoU) at the Sungai Long Campus on 10 November 2017.
The MoU will see UTAR and HZU exploring a wide range of prospective
collaborations such as staff and student exchange, research projects as
well as study tour and training programmes.
On behalf of HZU were its President Prof Dr Peng Yonghong, International
Affairs Department Director Lin Hong, School of Electronic Information
and Electrical Engineering Dean Wei Xiaohui, School of Chinese
Literature and Communication Dean Xiao Xiangming, International Affairs
Department Deputy Section Chief Zhang Guochen, and Oversea Students
Communication Association of Yangjiang Vice President Su Nianjun.
Welcoming the guests were UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato’ Dr
Chuah Hean Teik, Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic
Development Prof Ir Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Faculty of Medicine and Health
Sciences Dean Emeritus Prof Dr Cheong Soon Keng, Division of Community
and International Networking Director Prof Dr Cheng Ming Yu, Lee Kong
Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science Dean Prof Ir Dr Goi Bok Min,
Institute of Chinese Studies Dean Assoc Prof Dr Chong Siou Wei, Division
of Programme Promotion Director Lee Choy Fong, Faculty of Creative
Industries Deputy Dean Dr Aloysius Yapp, and Faculty of Accountancy and
Management Deputy Dean Dr Chong Shyue Chuan.
Prof Chuah introduced the 15-year-old university to the guests from HZU
and said, “The University has actively participated in various
activities such as academic exchanges and collaborations with
international partners to further promote our international network.” He
also suggested, “We offer exchange students to UTAR to join our
short-term English programmes as well as community projects. These
activities allow the students to learn more about the local culture
besides the academic.”
Prof Peng said, “Staff and student exchange programmes are good channels
to promote international partnership. We are happy to be here to explore
the collaborative opportunities with UTAR in various aspects. With the
signing of this MoU, we look forward to active collaborations in the
near future and close partnership between UTAR and HZU.”
