Held annually, the UTAR Sports Carnival was organised by the Department
of Student Affairs (DSA) throughout the month of July 2017 at different
sports facilities, with the purpose of promoting the goodwill and
understanding between UTAR students, staff and alumni. It was also aimed
to encourage the members of UTAR community to participate in sporting
and physical recreational activities.
A total of nine games were played in the carnival including futsal,
badminton, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, tug-of-war, soccer,
netball, and bowling. Attended by approximately 400 participants, the
carnival successfully brought together the staff and students who
represented their respective departments and faculties in various sports
events in the spirit of sportsmanship.
The Competition was divided into three parts, where Faculty of Medicine
and Health Sciences (FMHS) and Faculty of Accountancy and Management
(FAM) were grouped as one team; Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering
and Science (LKC FES) was grouped as the second team; Faculty of
Creative Industries (FCI), Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) and
Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) were grouped as the third team. This
year, LKC FES was the overall champion.
Apart from that, the sports carnival was also held to select the UTAR
Sports Team in order to represent the University for any upcoming
external sports events such as MASISWA Games, external invitations,
Sports Exchange Programme and Clash of the UTARians.
