Delegates from UTAR and the Council of Deans for Region – IX, the
Philippines
The Council of Deans for Region – IX from the Philippines visited UTAR
Sungai Long Campus on 24 October 2017 to explore opportunities for
future collaborations.
The delegates were Philippine Commission on Higher Education Regional
Office Director Dr Juanito Demetrio, Council of Deans and Educator in
Information Technology President-cum-Pagadian Capitol College
Information and Communication Technology Department Dean Miguel Madelo,
Commission on Higher Education Regional Office IT Supervisor Dr Jhamie
Tetz Mateo, and St. Vincent’s College (SVC) Executive Vice-President
Rev. Fr. Nathaniele Denlaoso, Council of Deans and Educator in
Information Technology’s Roy Bazar, Philipcris Encarnacion and Sherwin
Lapong, SVC External Affairs Director Dr Raymond Chris Maribojoc, SVC
Information Technology/ Computer Science Programme Head Dr George
Caroro, SVC College of Computer Studies Dean Dr Joseph Refugio and

The visit was set to foster mutual understanding through discussions on
both academic and non-academic programmes to discover prospects for
future partnerships. Some of the topics discussed included strengthening
IT programmes in the region’s higher education institutions, staff and
students exchange programmes, training, research collaborations and
community projects.
