UTAR students reached out to the community of Kampung Batu Kapur, Mentakab, Pahang to raise awareness of the flood, an issue that is yet to be resolved in that village. Carried out by the students from Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FS), “Awareness on the Flood” programme was conducted on 15 March 2018 at SK Batu Kapur, as part of their Co-Curricular Community Project.
The programme was joined by 50 students from the school. Throughout the day, the students were addressed with safety measures to be taken when a flood is encountered. The programme aimed to introduce a model-box water pump. With the aid and guidance from Sungai Long Campus’ Department of Soft Skills Competency lecturer Nurulain binti Mohamad Salihuddin and LKC FES lecturer Lam Foong Sin, UTAR students coached the primary students on how to build a water pump that can be used to pump out excess water from a place to another.
