Welcoming young talents

UTAR students from the Bachelor of Marketing (Hon) were invited to participate in “Dell’s In-House Career Fair 2018: Welcoming Young Talents” on 27 September 2018, accompanied by Faculty of Business and Finance Marketing Department Head Choy Johnn Yee.

Organised for the first time, the in-house career fair aimed at gathering a pool of young talent from colleges and universities to know more about the company and how they can be part of the growing Dell family after graduation.

It started with registration. Kick-starting the event was a speech delivered by Vice President of Global CSB Sales Operations and General Manager of Dell SWTC Penang Corina Tan Yoke Ching, who is also the industry advisor for the Bachelor of Marketing (Hon) Programme. Tan shared her enthusiasm about working in the industry and encouraged all participants to use their time wisely at the carnival to know about their future job prospects. She also shared with the participants about her experience working at Dell.

The participants were later divided into four groups and members of each group took turns to visit the “Dell Product Sharing” booth and the “Human Resource Sharing” booth. Apart from booth activities, the participants were led by respective team leaders and assistant from Dell, for a tour around SWTC offices. The tour was meant to expose participants to various business units of the company, such as sales and marketing, call centre, monitoring or control unit, technical unit, information technology unit, customer service, and repair and maintenance unit. Throughout the tour, the team leaders briefed the participants and explained the roles of each unit and its responsibilities.

A luncheon was provided after the tour, but at the same time facilitating participants to interact freely with one another, and enabling networking and sharing of experience. The participants were also enlightened with the sharing from each leader of different business units, which provided an opportunity for the participants to discuss or ask questions. At the end of the event, student representatives from each college and university were also given the opportunity to share their thoughts or feedback about the event.
