The Faculty of Creative Industries’ Department of Early Childhood Studies conducted a donation drive on 30 January 2018. The event saw a lot of items being collected from staff and students from both Sungai Long and Kampar Campus. The students from the Early Childhood programme also donated some teaching aids and their completed coursework for the purpose of recycling it into study materials.
FCI Dean Dr David Tneh Cheng Eng, Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Deputy Dean Thinavan Periyayya, Department of Early Childhood Studies Head Jamela Begam binti Oli Muhamad and staff who are currently teaching the Early Childhood Programme worked together to collect the teaching aids made from the students’ coursework and other donated items contributed by the UTAR staff of Sungai Long and Kampar Campus.
“We always encourage our students to create their own teaching aids so that they are readily available to be delivered to the young children. A few weeks ago, our department managed to personally collect some of the students’ works and hand it over to a selected Tadika in Jinjang so that the teachers and the preschoolers can use the teaching aids,” said Jamela.
Jamela also emphasised that the department practices environmental friendly approach in creating the teaching aids. The teaching aids will then be donated to preschools or a needy orphanage. She also added that the donation drive was a success and thanked FCI students and UTAR staff for making the event possible.
