The Built Environment Society (BES) which is parked under the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) organised a camp called “Doppelganger Interaction Camp 2018”. It was held on 23 and 24 June 2018 at Sufes Campsite, Tapah, Perak.
The camp was themed ‘Doppelganger’, which defined the meaning of knowing and exploring yourself and the other half; it also means finding someone who looks exactly like you in this vast world. This camp is held consecutively once every year to strengthen the relationship among the Construction Management students.
During the interaction camp, the students were encouraged to interact, share and exchange knowledge with one another. In order to strengthen their task groundwork, they also learnt the basic construction knowledge by playing games that mimic the mechanism of construction and promoting teamwork while doing construction task. One of the students, Lim Hui Yan said that the ice breaking session encouraged her to mingle with people from other groups and it enabled the students to get to know each other very well.
Games such as Word Scribble, Take out the Paper, Sing with Me, The Floor is on Lava, The Construction of Aluminum Can Tower, What’s the Taste, Pass the Water, Pass the Flour and Obstacle Run were prepared for the participants. The games also challenged the participants to overcome all sorts of obstacles and helped to enhance their skills; for instance, the Crime Game trained the participants’ thinking skills and guessing skills.
FEGT lecturer Dr Kwan Wai Hoe hoped the interaction camp would encourage the students to get closer to one another and promote a healthy relationship that would benefit them in many aspects, such as studies, co-curricular activities and even in their future career development. For example, the camp should provide a platform where senior students can guide and motivate the juniors in completing their tasks and assignments so that a lasting relationship could be formed.
