FICT Industrial Exposure Day

To provide an excellent opportunity for UTAR students to meet and network with numerous Human Resource professionals and organisations and learn about job and internship opportunities, UTAR Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) organised a career fair titled “FICT Industrial Exposure Day” from 11 to 13 July 2018 at Kampar Campus.

Aimed at introducing prospective employers, especially from the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector to FICT and UTAR students, the three-day fair also provided a forum for students to experience real interviews. About 400 students were successfully interviewed by the participating companies throughout the three-day fair. Successful candidates will be contacted later by the employers.

FICT’s Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training-cum-Organising Chairperson of FICT Industrial Exposure Day Dr Choo Peng Yin enthused, “The main objective of this fair is to introduce prospective employers to our FICT students particularly to our final year students. We believe this fair could be a great avenue for UTAR students to have some real exposures on job interviews and to initiate the networking process between prospective graduates and prospective employers.” He added, “The fair also allows our students to showcase their skills and competencies to employers and it facilitates the opportunities for our students to gain employment.”

Apart from career and recruitment booths by prospective ICT employers, the fair also held a series of career and company talks for the students. Among the career talks conducted for students were “Mobile Technology—The Amazing Impact on Your Life” by LintraMax (M) Sdn Bhd, “Smart Manufacturing (Global Business Service)” by Jabil Sdn Bhd (Global Business Centre), “Introduction to Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency, Blockchain” by PINKEXC (M) Sdn Bhd, “Telco Big Data Analysis by GLOBEOSS Sdn Bhd, “The Start-up Versus The Corporate Path” by HostStay Berhad and “Revolutionizing E-Payments” by TNG Digital Sdn Bhd. Meanwhile, the company talks were delivered by speakers from selected companies, namely Silver Lining Systems Sdn Bhd, Hitachi Ebworx Sdn Bhd, Abeam Consulting (M) Sdn Bhd, SEEK Asia, beeZmall.com, Stone Forest IT Sdn Bhd, Finexus Sdn Bhd and Onnet Consulting Sdn Bhd.
