Delegates from Liupanshui Normal University, China visited the Sungai Long Campus on 30 May 2018. Representing its university were Vice President Cheng Xuquan, School of Literature and Journalism Director Prof Fei Hong, Foreign Language School Director Prof Zhang Zhi, International Office Director Assoc Prof Xiang Huyue, Department of Scientific Research Director Prof Zhang Long and Human Resources Office Vice Director Yuan Ruipin.
On behalf of UTAR were its Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Prof Ir Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Division of Community and International Networking (DCInternet) Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Dr Lim Jee Hock, Faculty of Creative Industries Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Dr Loo Hong Chuang, Faculty of Science Dean Assoc Prof Dr Lim Tuck Meng, Faculty of Arts and Social Science Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Assoc Prof Dr Kok Jin Kuan, Faculty of Science Dean Assoc Prof Dr Lim Tuck Meng, and DCInternet Deputy Director Dr Chen I-Chi.
The visit aimed to explore the possible cooperation in short-term student exchange, collaboration in research projects and to exchange ideas on faculty training and academics. Aside from that, Liupanshui Normal University would also like to learn about Malaysia’s advance management system of education and universities’ administration model.
Prof Ewe welcomed the delegates and said, “I look forward to the future collaborations with Liupanshui Normal University which involves other UTAR faculties and research centres in the areas of student and staff exchanges as well as joint research collaborations.”
Cheng gave an introduction of Liupanshui Normal University and the learning environment around the campus. He said, “We encourage students to study at our university because it has beautiful landscape which is peaceful for study purpose. We wish to learn and exchange knowledge from UTAR in the areas such as research, teaching and the administration.”
The meeting was followed by a souvenir exchange between both universities and photography session.
