Three-Minute Marketing Proposal

UTAR’s Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) Kampar Campus successfully organised a “Three-Minute Marketing Proposal” (3MMP) Competition on 14 March 2018 at Kampar Campus.

Aimed at providing positive exposure of the real-life marketing environment to students, the competition also served as a platform for marketing-minded students to present their marketing ideas.

In her speech, Organising Chairperson of 3MMP Tang Sok Bee explained, “The competition is participated by a total of eight teams comprising students from Foundation in Arts. The competition is indeed a good stage for students to help improve their presentation skills and confidence level in delivering their marketing proposal.”

The competition was graced by Director of CFS Kampar Campus Tan Lee Siew. She was accompanied by her Deputy Director Lim Khiew Loon. The organising committee also invited a panel of judges comprising UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance Senior Lecturer Garry Tan Wei Han, Head of Management and Accountancy Department of CFS Kampar Campus Zurina binti Abdullah and CFS Kampar Campus Lecturer Chuah Ee Chiet. Also, present to witness and support the competition was UTAR staff and students.

The competition saw the finalists pitching their automobile marketing proposals, in a form of one picture slide, within three minutes to the panel of judges. They were judged based on the substance of their speeches, skills and techniques they have employed.

Foundation in Arts students Mah Sze Yeng and Daniel Chong won the first place, followed by Koay Yi Wen and Pang Shin Yi in the second place. Tan Thye Huang and Wong Ting Wei won the third place. Winner Daniel Chong said, “This is a good opportunity for us to enhance our presentation skills and it helps to raise our confidence level when speaking in public. It feels great to be exposed to this new experience other than our normal classroom lessons.”

Tang added, “This is the first time we organised this competition and I am glad that it turned out to be a success. It has served as a good practice for students to apply and showcase their marketing knowledge aside from learning to present well to the audience. We noted that there were still rooms for improvement in different areas of the competition and we hope to further improve in the near future and turn this into an annual event.”
