Visitors from Guangxi Association for Science and Technology, China (GXAST) and ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET) visited the Sungai Long Campus on 11 June 2018.
The visitors from GXAST were its President Na Xiang, Hezhou City Association for Science and Technology President Zhang Peijuan, Chongzuo City Association for Science and Technology President Tian Fangying, The litter Doctor News of Guangxi Science Popularization Centre Director Chief Editor Zhang Qian, Guangxi Science and Technology Museum Deputy Section Chief Yang Wei and Guangxi Science and Technology Museum lecturer Wang Boyong.
Also present were AAET President-cum-UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato’ Dr Chuah Hean Teik, AAET Secretary General-cum-UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, AAET Associate Fellows Bong Boon Fah and Leong Yue Peng, and AAET Executive Secretary Fok Kuk Fai.
Welcoming the visitors on behalf of UTAR were Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Dean Emeritus Prof Dr Cheong Soon Keng, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Prof Ir Dr Goi Bok Min, LKC FES Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Assoc Prof Dr Yong Thian Khok and Library Manager Ang Suan Sim.
The visit aimed to develop mutual understanding between parties, build rapport and seek future collaboration in terms of science and technology.
Prof Chuah welcomed the visitors and said, “Throughout this discussion, I realised that we can do a lot of collaborations together in terms of science and technology. We can also collaborate in the aspect of ‘one belt, one road initiative’ on students’ achievements, especially on Asia-Pacific students.”
Na agreed with Prof Chuah and said, “We can invite our professionals to UTAR for an exchange of ideas on science and technology. As Prof Chuah mentioned, we can also consider collaborations for science fair, forum and book publications. As such, there are many aspects available for us to work together. Hence we can anticipate for more collaborations in the future.”
The meeting ended with Prof Chuah presenting a token of appreciation to Na. The visitors were then brought to a tour around the campus.
