UTAR Hospital receives RM100,000

Wanita MCA and the Malaysian Chinese Women Entrepreneurs Association made a donation of RM100,000 for the development of UTAR Hospital on 9 March 2018 at Kampar Campus.

Witnessed by UTAR Chancellor Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, UTAR Council Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Ting Chew Peh and Minister of International Trade and Industry II of Malaysia-cum-UTAR Council Member Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan, the mock cheque was handed over to UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato’ Dr Chuah Hean Teik and UTAR Council Member Hew Fen Yee by Wanita MCA Chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie.

Also present at the ceremony were the guest of honour for Session One of the UTAR 26th Convocation Datin Paduka Tan Siok Choo.

Prof Chuah said, “The hospital is expected to be operational by the end of 2021. It will be a unique hospital offering medical services in both Western Medicine and Traditional and Complementary Medicine including Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. The hospital will also provide affordable medical services to the community.”

According to Datuk Heng, the hospital will be a beacon of hope to the people in Kinta Valley. “We hope this hospital will bring much benefit to the people in Kampar. We hope this small donation might inspire more and more people to contribute towards the establishment of the hospital.”

The hospital which is estimated to be RM330million would be the first medical facility to offer a combination of conventional, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurvedic treatments. With a total of 250 beds for conventional medicine and another 100 beds for TCM and Ayurvedic medicine, the hospital will also provide clinical training for UTAR’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and TCM students.
