It was a proud moment for UTAR when the research team from the Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) managed to secure a research grant worth RM63,200. The mock cheque presentation ceremony was held on 15 March 2018 at the office of Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (MTDC).
UTAR Vice Presidentfor R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei represented UTAR to receive the mock cheque worth RM63,200 from the Chairman of MTDC, Dato’ Latt Shariman Abdullah. It was witnessed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTDC Dato’ Norhalim bin Yunus.
Also present at the ceremony were the research team from UTAR, namely FAM Head of Accountancy Department K Shamini, FAM lecturer Ung Leng Yean and Faculty of Business and Finance lecturer Kuek Thiam Yong. The team was led by Dr Low Mei Peng.
UTAR was one of the five local universities to secure a social research grant from MTDC. According to Dato’ Norhalim, MTDC offered a total amount of RM560,000 to five local universities for their social research pertaining to technology adaptation among entrepreneurs as a mean to path their ways toward the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The research team endeavoured to study the level of digitalisation adoption among companies in Malaysia. Upon ascertaining the level of digitalisation, recommendations will be made to narrow the gap and increase the level of digitalisation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Malaysia.
