UTAR’s Centre for Extension Education (CEE) organised a talk titled “Enjoy your Lifestyle through Smart Investment” on 3 April 2018 at the Kampar Campus. Invited to the talk to share her experience was SK iWealth Sdn Bhd Managing Director Oo Huei Ying.
Oo sharing her insights on investments
The talk aimed to enhance participants’ understanding on investments and provide them with strategies to maximise returns and reduce risks of investments. She began by stating that the best investments are not those with the highest rate of return, but rather the one that is suitable to someone’s lifestyle. She explained that for those who wish to achieve their desired lifestyle, they first need to identify the types of lifestyle they want.
Oo advised the participants to make early planning for investing and that their investments should be based on their goals and lifestyle. “Before making any investments, it is important that you start early because investing takes a lot of time. The further you delay your plans, the more work will ensue,” advised Oo.
She also emphasised that having more than one way to generate income will speed up the process for the participants to achieve their investment goals. Rather than having only an active income from working daily, she recommended the participants to seek another way to generate money, also known as passive income.

At the talk, Oo highlighted the aspects that were vital in an investment, which were “Identifying your desired lifestyle”, “The importance of starting early”, “Investing in the right vehicle”, “For those with low startup” and “Important investment philosophies”. She also stated that following the fundamental investing philosophies will help the participants to avoid receiving negative results from their investments.
Oo is a Registered Financial Planner (RFP) recognised by Bank Negara, and a member of Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), which is an international premier Association of Financial Professionals. She was awarded the “Top of the Table” as the top 1% financial professionals worldwide. She also holds the award “Life Time Qualifying Member of MDRT”, which is a recognition given only to financial professionals who have been qualified for MDRT awards for 10 years and above.
