They were taught to explore the world by joining student exchange programmes or applying internship programme with UTAR’s partners from different countries. They learnt the method of gaining certificate for certain schemes such as UTAR Undergraduate Research Scheme (URS) Certificate. Also, the degree students were briefed on how to apply for financial aids such as PTPTN.
Other than that, the new students were also briefed and led to an induction programme which included campus adjustment talks, campus tour around UTAR, new village tour and also city tour surrounding the Campus to help new students to familiarise themselves with the surroundings.
When asked, a new student from Bangi who is going to pursue the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Actuarial Science, Anis Farhana said, “I choose UTAR because UTAR offered a subject that I wanted to pursue and it was also near to my home.” She also found that the orientation programme which was organised by SRC was fun and interesting as it consists of games. The briefing helped her to understand more about the use of facilities and services that UTAR provided.
Moreover, activities such as promotion and recruitment from clubs and societies and blood donation campaign await for the new students. The students can also anticipate for the upcoming green campaign and community service project, namely “Go Green- For a better tomorrow.”
